رذية سفر بالفلاة حسير
Death has forgotten me, until I seem
a travel-worn, abandoned camel, exhausted in the wilderness.
ولماand ... not تدعleave منيin me الثمانونthe eighty years منةstrength
ولما تدع مني الثمانون منة
كأنيas though I were إذاwhen رمتI try القيامstanding كسيرbroken
كأني إذا رمت القيام كسير
And eighty years have left me no strength;
I am like a broken man whenever I try to stand.
أؤديI perform صلاتيmy prayer قاعداseated وسجودهاand its prostration
أؤدي صلاتي قاعدا وسجودها
عليfor me إذاwhen رمتI attempt السجودprostration عسيرdifficult
علي إذا رمت السجود عسير
I perform my prayer seated, and its prostration
is hard for me whenever I try to prostrate.
وقدand indeed أنذرتنيhas warned me هذهthis الحالcondition أننيthat I
وقد أنذرتني هذه الحال أنني
دنتhas drawn near رحلةa journey منيto me وحانand the time has come مسيرsetting out
دنت رحلة مني وحان مسير
And this condition has warned me that
my journey draws near, and the time to set out has come.
