فِيin البعدthe distance حتّىso much so that كأنِيas though I were مُصقبُnearby الدّارِthe dwelling
I shall surely be grateful for your care, which keeps me in mind
Even far away, as though my home were close by.
بعُدتُI went far away عنهfrom him فماyet not أنكرتُdid I find changed خُلّتَهُhis friendship
معdespite التّنائيthe separation وكمand how many أنكرتُI found unfamiliar منof جَارِa neighbor
I have gone far from him, yet found his friendship unchanged,
Despite our separation—yet how many a neighbor have I found a stranger!
