O crescent who, when he appears, is beheld by

all humankind; those who behold him never weary of him.

And the crescent moon appears each month

for one night; then the eye turns away from it.

He has not broken your covenant, he who heeded no

adviser about you; why then—may he be your ransom—do you betray him?

All beauty in creation is gathered in

you; so, by God, do not mar it, and safeguard it.

If you have not seen anyone who combines

kindness and beauty among the fair, then be that one.
