بالسَّابحاتِ بحارَ المَهْمَهِ البيدِ
Bid Egypt farewell, O man of resolve—not Lamis—and wade
Bid farewell to a brother determined to leave Egypt, not out of cowardice, and plunge
On swimming steeds through the seas of the trackless desert wastes.
Into the seas of glorious endeavor,
وسِرْand journey عَنِaway from الأرضِthe land تَنْبوis inhospitable بالكرامِto the noble فَقَدfor indeed
وسِرْ عَنِ الأرضِ تَنْبو بالكرامِ فَقَد

طال انتظارُ الجَنَى مِن يابِس العودِ
And journey away from the land that is inhospitable to the noble, for indeed
And depart from the land, it brings you glory, for
Long has been the wait for fruit from a withered bough.
The wait for ripe fruit from withered branches was long.
