نُحولاً وتَسهيداً ولوناً وأدْمُعَا
My companion in estrangement’s night is one who resembles me—
My companion in the night of estrangement resembles me
in gauntness, sleeplessness, pallor, and tears.
in thinness and sleeplessness, in color and tears.
أُواجِهُI face وجهاًa face منهof his حيثُwherever رأيتُهُI saw him
أُواجِهُ وجهاً منه حيثُ رأيتُهُ

منيراً إلى مَن أمّهُ متطَلِّعَا
Wherever I see him, I encounter a face of his,
I face a countenance of his wherever I see him,
radiant, gazing expectantly toward the one on whom he has set his hopes,
radiant, gazing toward whoever seeks him.

بَدَا لِيَ عاينْتُ الملاحةَ أجمَعَا
like one clothing my body in the languor of his eyelids—wherever
Like the one who clothes my body in the languor of his eyelids, wherever
he appeared to me, I beheld beauty entire.
he appears to me, I behold beauty in its entirety.
