وَيَسمِعُنيand makes me hear داعيthe caller of الهَوىlove منfrom بلادِهاher land
وَيَسمِعُني داعي الهَوى من بلادِها
وَإِنيand indeed I am لَداعِيto the caller of النُصحِcounsel غيُرnot سَمِيعِlistening
وَإِني لَداعِي النُصحِ غيُر سَمِيعِ
And love’s call reaches me from her land,
The caller of passion calls to me from her land
Yet I am deaf to the call of counsel.
Yet I, caller of good counsel, am not one to hear
