قومٌa people يموتُdie النّاسُpeople عندَهُمُamong them
قومٌ يموتُ النّاسُ عندَهُمُ
ضُرّاًof want وهُمْwhile they منهُمof them علىin a state of فَرَقِfear
ضُرّاً وهُمْ منهُم على فَرَقِ
A people among whom people die
A people, at whose hands men die of thirst,
Of want, while fearing them—
While water goes down their own throats;
كالبَحرِlike the sea يهلِكُperishes فيهin it راكبُهُits voyager
كالبَحرِ يهلِكُ فيه راكبُهُ
عَطَشاًof thirst ويخشىand he fears الموتَdeath بالغَرقِby drowning
عَطَشاً ويخشى الموتَ بالغَرقِ
Like the sea, in which its voyager perishes
Like the ocean that drowns the sailor
Of thirst, and fears death by drowning.
Whose ship founders, while the waves toss.
