إذا ما عَرا مالا أَطيقُ دفاعَهُ

إذا ما عَرا مالا أَطيقُ دفاعَهُ

وأرْمَضَني الفكرُ المُسَهِّدُ والهَمُّ

وأرْمَضَني الفكرُ المُسَهِّدُ والهَمُّ

When what I cannot ward off befalls me,

and sleep-banishing thought and worry scorch me,

دعوتُ الذي ناداهُ موسى لدفعِ ما

دعوتُ الذي ناداهُ موسى لدفعِ ما

يحاذِرُ من فِرعونَ فانفرَقَ اليَمُّ

يحاذِرُ من فِرعونَ فانفرَقَ اليَمُّ

I invoke the One whom Moses called upon to avert what

he feared from Pharaoh, and the sea parted.

وناديتُ مَن ناداه ذو النُّونِ واثِقاً

وناديتُ مَن ناداه ذو النُّونِ واثِقاً

به في ظلامِ البَحرِ فانكشَفَ الغَمُّ

به في ظلامِ البَحرِ فانكشَفَ الغَمُّ

And I call upon the One whom the Man of the Fish called upon, trusting

in Him in the darkness of the sea, and anguish was dispelled.
