She said, saddened by the whiteness of my hair-partings:
She said, and my departure saddened her
'What is this?' I said, 'An ostrich egg left behind by the days.'
“What then?” I said, “Are not all days fleeting?”
فَبَكَتْthen she wept وقالَتand she said هلwill? لهَاto it منany وَارِدٍone coming to water
فَبَكَتْ وقالَت هل لهَا من وَارِدٍ
أوor رائدٍa scout seeking pasture يوماًsomeday فقلتُso I said حِمَامِيmy death
أو رائدٍ يوماً فقلتُ حِمَامِي
Then she wept and said, 'Will any water-seeker come to it,
She wept and said “Shall we not meet again
Or a scout someday?' I said, 'My death.'
Or will some herald come?” I said “My dove”
