O you who resemble the hearts' cores, love is yours.

And can a heart endure being parted from its dark core?

Upon your dark throat the pearls shone, just as

The night's bright stars shone in its deep darkness.

You are indeed youth, whose blackness is not marred

By the whiteness of gray hair—and youth is life.

The reproachers have indeed said much about you, and their ignorance,

When they rebuke me for loving you, is their excuse.
