ياO غائبينَabsent ones وفيand in قلبيmy heart محلُّهُمtheir dwelling
يا غائبينَ وفي قلبي محلُّهُم
لمnot تنزحواyou have gone away لكِنbut الدَّمعُthe tears الّذيthat نَزَحاdrained away
لم تنزحوا لكِن الدَّمعُ الّذي نَزَحا
O absent ones, whose dwelling is in my heart,
O absent ones, though you still dwell in my heart
You have not gone away, but it is the tears that have drained away.
It's not you who have left - the tears simply poured
هواكُمlove for you إنif دَنَتdrew near دارٌa dwelling وإنand if بَعُدَتgrew distant
هواكُم إن دَنَت دارٌ وإن بَعُدَت
كماas عهدتُمyou knew it وبُرحُand the anguish الوجدِof longing ماnot بَرحاhas ceased
كما عهدتُم وبُرحُ الوجدِ ما بَرحا
My love for you, whether the dwelling is near or far,
Whether near or far, my love for you remains
is as you knew it, and the anguish of longing has not ceased.
Just as you've always been - yearning stays the same
