أَمُنْصَدِعٌis ... rent? قلبيmy heart مِنَfrom البَيْنِthe separation كُلَّماwhenever
تَرَنَّمَsang هدّالُthe cooing one الحَمامِthe doves الهواتفِcalling
Is my heart rent by separation whenever
Does my heart crack every time
the cooing one among the calling doves sings?
The loving doves coo melodiously?
سَجَعْنَthey cooed بِلَحْنٍwith a melody يَصْدَعُrends القلبَthe heart شَجْوُهُits sorrow
علىin غيرabsence of عِلْمٍknowledge بافتراقِof the parting of الألايفِthe close companions
They cooed a melody whose sorrow rends the heart,
They sing sadly with a tune that breaks the heart,
unaware of the parting of close companions.
Unaware of the separation from loved ones.
ولوand if نِلْتُI obtained منهاfrom her ماsomething that يُوازَنis weighed بالقَذىagainst a mote
شفىwould cure كلَّevery داءٍailment فيin فؤاديَmy heart حالفِabiding
And if I obtained from her so much as a mote's weight,
If I got from her as little as a speck of dust,
it would cure every ailment abiding in my heart.
It would cure every ailment in my heart.
