لِكُلِّ أُناسٍ سَيِّدٌ يَعرِفونَهُ

لِكُلِّ أُناسٍ سَيِّدٌ يَعرِفونَهُ

وَسَيِّدُنا حَتّى المَماتِ رَبيعُ

وَسَيِّدُنا حَتّى المَماتِ رَبيعُ

Every people has a chief whom they acknowledge;

Every people has a chief whom they know.

and our chief, until death, is Rabīʿ.

And our chief until death is Rabiʿ.

إِذا أَمَرَتني بِالعُقوقِ حَليلَتي

إِذا أَمَرَتني بِالعُقوقِ حَليلَتي

فَلَم أَعصِها إِنّي إِذاً لَمَضيعُ

فَلَم أَعصِها إِنّي إِذاً لَمَضيعُ

If my wife ordered me to be disloyal,

If my wife commands me to be undutiful,

and I did not disobey her, then indeed I would be remiss.

and I do not disobey her, then I am surely remiss.
