مِنَ الأُدمِ خُمصانُ الحَشى غَيرُ خَنثَلِ
The dwellings of Suʿdā, when Suʿād was a young gazelle,
The abode of my beloved is a source of joy for me
Of the white gazelles, slender-bellied, not stout;
Her slim waist sways gently, not rigidly

عَقيلَةُ جَوٍّ عازِبٍ لَم يُحَلَّلِ
Pure white, tinged with a yellow hue,
The whiteness of her complexion took on a yellowish hue
The prized gazelle of a remote, uninhabited valley.
Like a passing rain cloud that has not yet rained

When she did not clean her teeth with an arāk twig,
When she did not lean on a willow branch
An isḥil twig was carefully chosen, and she cleaned them with it.
She leaned on a tamarisk branch and it swayed
