أَومَتshe signaled بِعَينَيهاwith her eyes مِنَfrom الهَودَجِthe howdah (camel litter)
أَومَت بِعَينَيها مِنَ الهَودَجِ
لَولاكَwere it not for you فيin ذاthis العامِthe year لَمnot أَحجُجِI make the pilgrimage
لَولاكَ في ذا العامِ لَم أَحجُجِ
She signaled with her eyes from the howdah:
With eyes that yearned from behind the veil
Were it not for you, I would not have made the pilgrimage this year.
Without you this year, I'd not make the hajj
أَنتَyou إِلىto مَكَّةَMecca أَخرَجتَنيyou made me set out
أَنتَ إِلى مَكَّةَ أَخرَجتَني
وَلَوand if تَرَكتَyou gave up الحَجَّthe pilgrimage لَمnot أَخرُجِI set out
وَلَو تَرَكتَ الحَجَّ لَم أَخرُجِ
You made me set out for Mecca;
You took me to Mecca, you brought me out
and had you forgone the pilgrimage, I would not have set out.
Had you not made the pilgrimage, I'd not gone about
