    Do you recognize the dwelling, the ruins, and the campsite traces?

    They added sorrow to the heart, on top of its afflictions.

    A dwelling of Asma's, when she used to stay there,

    And you, back then, when it was our home.

    The heart has loved nothing as it has loved you,

    Nor has the eye seen anything beautiful after you.

    I care not, if God brings you near,

    Who among my loved ones has gone far away or stayed.

    وَإِن دَنَت دارُكُم كُنتُم لَنا سَكَنا

    So if you go far away, your distance afflicts the heart;

    And if your dwelling draws near, you are a comfort to us.

    وَإِن تَجودي فَقَد عَنّيتِنا زَمَنا

    If you withhold, your withholding does not make the heart forget;

    And if you are generous, you have already tormented us for some time.

    The heart is now held in pledge to you, O Hind,

    And you were passion, sorrow, and drowsiness.

    When she captivates you with a mouth whose teeth are polished,

    And the two eyes of a young gazelle that has only just become independent.
