كانَwas ليfor me ياO سَفيرُSafir حُبُّكَyour love حَيناdoom
كادَnearly يَقضيput an end عَلَيَّto me لَمّاwhen اِلتَقَيناwe met
Your love, O Safir, was my doom;
It nearly killed me when we met.
يَعلَمُknows اللَهُGod أَنَّكُمthat you لَوif نَأَيتُمyou went far away
أَوor قَرُبتُمyou drew near أَحَبُّdearest شَيءٍthing إِلَيناto us
God knows that, whether you go far away
Or draw near, you are the dearest thing to us.
