A dream-vision came and stirred my rapture,

On the night we spent beside the dunes.

It visited me while the riding camels were still,

At night, my anxiety at remembering was my torment.

So I spent the night watching the stars, propped on my elbow,

For love of her—and the lover is weary.

A dream-vision of Hind traveled by night and kept me awake,

While we were between al-Kurāʿ and al-Kharab.

O Hind, do not withhold your bounty

From a lover who has remained in anguish because of you.

O Hind, defy the slanderers concerning a man

Who thrills to glory, of noble ancestry.
