Greet a phantom from the loved ones that came to visit,
A vision of loved ones came to visit
After slumber had felled the late-night talkers,
After fate had laid the vigilant low

Visiting in a dream beneath the darkness of night,
A phantom in a dream beneath the veil of night
Reluctant to visit by day.
Yearning in daylight to appear once more

I said, "Why have we been shunned, when we were
I said, why did we part and we were
Before this, as dear as hearing and sight?"
Of open ears and eyes as never before

He said, "We are as you knew us, but
He said, we're as you've known, but
The jewelry has kept its owners too busy to lend it."
Ornaments distract their wearers evermore
