جَنَّةَthe Garden الخُلدِof eternity مَنthe one who مَلانيfilled me خَلوقاsaffron perfume
May God, Lord of Moses and Jesus, admit
God, Lord of Moses and Jesus, admitted
to the Garden of Eternity her who suffused me with saffron perfume.
To the eternal Paradise a humble servant of Mine
مَسَحَتهُshe wiped it مِنfrom كَفِّهاher palm بِقَميصيwith my shirt
حينَwhen طافَتshe circled بِالبَيتِaround the House مَسحاًa stroke رَفيقاgentle
She wiped it from her palm onto my shirt,
Who wiped my shirt with her palm
as she circled the House, with a gentle stroke.
When she circumambulated the House in a gentle manner
غَضِبَتshe grew angry أَنthat نَظَرتُI looked نَحوَtoward نِساءٍwomen
لَيسَnot يَعرِفنَنيthey know me سَلَكنَthey took الطَريقاthe road
She grew angry that I looked toward women
She was angered when I looked at some women
who did not know me, passing along the road.
Who did not know me, having gone down that path
وَأَرىand I see بَينَهاbetween her وَبَينَand between نِساءٍwomen
كُنتُI was أَهذيI rave بِهِنَّabout them بَوناًa gulf سَحيقاvast
And I see, between her and women
And I see a great distance between those women
I once raved about, a vast gulf.
And the ones I used to madly love
