مَن كانَ ذا عَضُدٍ يُدرِك ظَلامَتَهُ

مَن كانَ ذا عَضُدٍ يُدرِك ظَلامَتَهُ

إِنَّ الذَليلَ الَذي لَيسَت لَهُ عَضُدُ

إِنَّ الذَليلَ الَذي لَيسَت لَهُ عَضُدُ

Whoever has a strong arm behind him wins redress for the wrong done him.

Whoever has support can obtain redress for his grievance.

For the humbled man is he who has no arm to support him.

Truly abased is the man who has no support.

تَنبو يَداهُ إِذا ما قَلَّ ناصِرُهُ

تَنبو يَداهُ إِذا ما قَلَّ ناصِرُهُ

وَتأنَفُ الضيمَ إِن أَثرى لَهُ عَضُدُ

وَتأنَفُ الضيمَ إِن أَثرى لَهُ عَضُدُ

His hands falter whenever his helpers are few,

His hands falter when his helpers are few,

but they disdain oppression when his support grows abundant.

And spurn oppression if his support grows abundant.
