الحَمدُpraise لِلَّهِto God الَّذيwho لَمdid not يَتَخِذtake
الحَمدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذي لَم يَتَخِذ
وَلَداًa child وَقَدَّرَand ordained خَلقَهُHis creation تَقديراin due measure
وَلَداً وَقَدَّرَ خَلقَهُ تَقديرا
Praise be to God, who has not taken
Praise be to God, who has not taken
a child, and has ordained His creation in due measure.
A son, and has planned out His creation perfectly,
وَعَناand bowed لَهُto Him وَجهيmy face وَخَلقيand my being كُلُهُall of it
وَعَنا لَهُ وَجهي وَخَلقي كُلُهُ
فيamong الخاشِعينَthose humbled لِوجهِهِbefore His countenance مَشكوراthanked
في الخاشِعينَ لِوجهِهِ مَشكورا
And my face and all my being have bowed to Him,
I devote my face and my whole being to Him,
among those humbled before His countenance, with thanks rendered to Him.
Among those humbly surrendering to His face, thankful.
