ذُكِرَ اِبنُ جَدعانَ

ذُكِرَ اِبنُ جَدعانَ

بِخَيرٍ كُلَّما ذُكِرَ الكِرامُ

بِخَيرٍ كُلَّما ذُكِرَ الكِرامُ

Ibn Jadʿan was spoken of

with praise whenever the noble were mentioned:

مَن لا يَخونُ وَلا

مَن لا يَخونُ وَلا

يَعِقُ وَلا تُغَيرُهُ اللِئامُ

يَعِقُ وَلا تُغَيرُهُ اللِئامُ

one who neither betrays nor

is undutiful, nor is changed by the base.

يَهَبُ النَجيبَةَ وَالنَجيبَ

يَهَبُ النَجيبَةَ وَالنَجيبَ

لَهُ الرِحالَةُ وَالزِمامُ

لَهُ الرِحالَةُ وَالزِمامُ

He gives the choice she-camel and the choice he-camel,

with its saddle and halter.
