وَإِني بِليلي وَالديارُ الَّتي أَرى

لَكالمُبتَلى المُعَنّي بِشَوقٍ موَكَّلِ

And I, for Layla and the dwellings I see,

By night and the home where I see the fires burning

Am surely like one afflicted, tormented by longing set over him.

I am like a lover with an incurable longing
