زَعم ابنُ جُدعان وليس بكاذبٍ

زَعم ابنُ جُدعان وليس بكاذبٍ

لنقنعن مئةً سلاحاً كامِلا

Ibn Judʿān declared—and he is no liar:

Ibn Juda'an claims, and he is no liar,

We shall surely equip a hundred with full arms,

We will equip a hundred with full armor,

ولننحرن في دار كل إقامة

ولننحرن في دار كل إقامة

عشراً ونطعمُ ذا العيالِ العائلا

عشراً ونطعمُ ذا العيالِ العائلا

and surely slaughter, at every dwelling where we stay,

And in the abode of every stay, slay ten,

ten camels, and feed the needy man with dependents.

Feeding the family with many dependents.

نعم الفتى وابنُ العشيرة إنّه

نعم الفتى وابنُ العشيرة إنّه

يُعطي الجزيلَ ولا يلدُّ الباخِلا

يُعطي الجزيلَ ولا يلدُّ الباخِلا

A fine young man and son of the clan! Indeed, he

Yes, what a fine lad and scion he is!

gives generously and does not quarrel with the miser.

He gives generously, never stinting.
