وَرَأَيتُand I saw مِنin عَبدِʿAbd المَدانِal-Madān خَلائِقاًqualities
وَرَأَيتُ مِن عَبدِ المَدانِ خَلائِقاً
فَضَلَsurpassed الأَنامِhumankind بِهنَّthrough them عَبدُʿAbd مَدانِMadān
فَضَلَ الأَنامِ بِهنَّ عَبدُ مَدانِ
And I saw in ʿAbd al-Madān qualities
I saw the noble habits of the servant of Madan
by which ʿAbd Madān surpassed all humankind.
The excellence of men through them is the servant of Madan
البُرُwheat يُلبَكُis mixed بِالشِهادِwith honey طَعامَهُمtheir food
البُرُ يُلبَكُ بِالشِهادِ طَعامَهُم
لاnot ماwhat يُعلِّلُناappease us بَنوthe sons of جُدعانُJudʿān
لا ما يُعلِّلُنا بَنو جُدعانُ
Their food is wheat mixed with honey,
Generosity wears his witness as their food
not what the sons of Judʿān appease us with.
Not what the people of Judaan try to blame us for
