تَفديكَwould ransom you أُختُكَyour sister قَدindeed حُييتَyou have been greeted بِنَعمَةٍwith a blessing
لَسناwe do not نَعُدُّwe reckon لَناfor us الزَمانَtime عَديلاa match
Your sister would ransom you; you have indeed been greeted with a blessing.
Your sister ransoms you, you've been revived with grace
We do not reckon time a match for us,
We do not count time as an equal for us
إِلّاexcept الخُلودَeternity وَذاكَand that قُربُكَyour nearness سَيِّديmy lord
لاmay … not زالَcease قُربُكَyour nearness وَالبَقاءُand continued life طَويلاlong
except eternity—and that is your nearness, my lord.
Except for eternity, and that is your nearness, my master
May your nearness and continued life last long.
May your nearness remain, and life be long
وَحَمَدتُand I praised رَبّيmy Lord فيfor إِجابَةِanswering دَعوَتيmy prayer
وَرَأَيتُand I found حَمديmy praise عِندَat ذاكَthat قَليلاmeager
And I praised my Lord for answering my prayer,
And I praised my Lord for answering my prayer
and I found my praise then meager.
And I saw my praise then to be so little
