أَتاني عَنكِ سَعيُكَ بي فَسُبّي

أَتاني عَنكِ سَعيُكَ بي فَسُبّي

أَلَيسَ جَرى بِفيكَ اِسمي فَحَسبي

أَلَيسَ جَرى بِفيكَ اِسمي فَحَسبي

Word of your slander against me has reached me; so revile me.

Your pursuit has come to me, so captivate me

Has my name not crossed your lips? Then that is enough for me.

Isn't it enough that my name flows in you?

وَقولي ما بَدا لَكِ أَن تَقولي

وَقولي ما بَدا لَكِ أَن تَقولي

فَماذا كُلُّهُ إِلّا لِحُبّي

فَماذا كُلُّهُ إِلّا لِحُبّي

And say whatever occurs to you to say.

Say whatever you wish to say

For what is all this, if not because of my love?

For all of it is out of my love

فَما زالَ المُحِبُّ يَنالُ سَبّا

فَما زالَ المُحِبُّ يَنالُ سَبّا

وَهَجراً ناعِماً وَمَليحَ عُتبِ

وَهَجراً ناعِماً وَمَليحَ عُتبِ

For the lover has never ceased to receive abuse,

The lover still gets blamed

And gentle estrangement, and charming reproach.

And gentle estrangement and graceful reproach

قَصاراكِ الرُجوعُ إِلى مُرادي

قَصاراكِ الرُجوعُ إِلى مُرادي

فَما تَرجينَ مِن تَعذيبِ قَلبي

فَما تَرجينَ مِن تَعذيبِ قَلبي

In the end, you will return to what I desire;

Your return to what I desire is brief

So what do you hope to gain from tormenting my heart?

What do you hope for in tormenting my heart?

تَشاهَدَتِ الظُنونُ عَلَيكِ عِندي

تَشاهَدَتِ الظُنونُ عَلَيكِ عِندي

وَعِلمُ الغَيبِ فيها عِندَ رَبّي

وَعِلمُ الغَيبِ فيها عِندَ رَبّي

In my view, suspicions have borne witness together against you;

Suspicions have been witnessed against you by me

And knowledge of the unseen within them rests with my Lord.

And knowledge of the unseen is with my Lord
