ماليwhat is wrong with me? أَرىI see الأَبصارَthe eyes جافِيَهcold
مالي أَرى الأَبصارَ جافِيَه
لَمdid not تَلتَفِتturn مِنّيof me إِلىtoward ناحِيَهa side
لَم تَلتَفِت مِنّي إِلى ناحِيَه
Why do I find every gaze so cold,
Why do I see eyes so cold,
not one turning toward any part of me?
not turning in my direction?
لاnot يَنظُرُlook الناسُpeople إِلىtoward المُبتَلىthe afflicted
لا يَنظُرُ الناسُ إِلى المُبتَلى
وَإِنَّماand only الناسُpeople مَعَwith العافِيَهwell-being
وَإِنَّما الناسُ مَعَ العافِيَه
People pay no heed to one afflicted;
People do not look upon the afflicted;
they stand only with those in well-being.
they keep company only with those who are well.
وَقَدand indeed جَفانيshunned me ظالِماًunjustly سَيِّديmy master
وَقَد جَفاني ظالِماً سَيِّدي
فَاِدمَعيso my tears مُنهَلَّةٌpouring down هامِيَهstreaming
فَاِدمَعي مُنهَلَّةٌ هامِيَه
My lord has wrongfully cast me off,
And my master has unjustly shunned me,
and so my tears stream down in torrents.
so my tears pour down in streams.
صَحبيmy companions سَلواask رَبَّكُمyour Lord العافِيَهwell-being
صَحبي سَلوا رَبَّكُم العافِيَه
فَقَدfor indeed دَهَتنيhas struck me بَعدَكُمafter you داهِيَهa calamity
فَقَد دَهَتني بَعدَكُم داهِيَه
My friends, ask your Lord for well-being:
My companions, ask your Lord for well-being,
since you left, calamity has befallen me.
for a calamity has struck me in your absence.
