لَيسَis not خَطبُthe affair الهَوىlove بِخَطبٍa matter (emphatic) يَسيرٍsimple
لَيسَ خَطبُ الهَوى بِخَطبٍ يَسيرٍ
لاnot يُنَبّيكَinforms you عَنهُabout it مِثلُlike خَبيرِone who knows
لا يُنَبّيكَ عَنهُ مِثلُ خَبيرِ
The affair of love is no simple matter.
Love's matter is not an easy affair,
None can tell you of it like one who knows.
Nor can an expert's advice make you aware.
لَيسَis not أَمرُthe affair الهَوىlove يُدَبِّرُis governed بِالرَأby judgment (word begins here)
لَيسَ أَمرُ الهَوى يُدَبِّرُ بِالرَأ
يِcompletion of 'judgment' وَلاnor بِالقِياسِby analogy وَالتَفكيرِand reflection
يِ وَلا بِالقِياسِ وَالتَفكيرِ
Love's affairs are not governed by judg-
Love's matter cannot be managed by reason
ment, nor by analogy and reflection.
Or by using logic and careful consideration.
إِنَّماonly الأَمرُthe matter فيin الهَوىlove خَطَراتٌfleeting impulses
إِنَّما الأَمرُ في الهَوى خَطَراتٌ
مُحدِثاتُbringing about الأُمورِevents بَعدَafter الأُمورِevents
مُحدِثاتُ الأُمورِ بَعدَ الأُمورِ
In love, it is all a matter of fleeting impulses,
Truly, in love, there are dangers untold
bringing about one event after another.
That bring new events when you think all is old.
