قدindeed رابَنيtroubled me أَنthat صَدَدتُمyou turned away فيin مُجامَلَةٍcourtesy
قد رابَني أَن صَدَدتُم في مُجامَلَةٍ
وَأَنكَرَand denied القَلبُthe heart أَنthat جِئناwe came بِحُجَتَّكُمwith your argument
وَأَنكَرَ القَلبُ أَن جِئنا بِحُجَتَّكُم
It has troubled me that you turned away politely.
My heart was troubled by your aloofness
And the heart denied that we came with your argument.
And it refused to accept your excuses
فَماso why الصُدودَthe turning away وَقَلبيwhile my heart عِندَكُمwith you عَلِقٌattached
فَما الصُدودَ وَقَلبي عِندَكُم عَلِقٌ
وَماand what الذُنوبُthe sins الَّتيthat هاجَتstirred up بِحَربِكُمto your war
وَما الذُنوبُ الَّتي هاجَت بِحَربِكُم
Why, then, this turning away, when my heart clings to you?
Yet my heart is attached to you
And what sins have stirred up your war?
And knows not the sins that stirred your war
