بِتُّI spent the night قَبلَbefore الصَباحِdawn إِنnot بِتُّI spent the night إِلّاexcept
فيin إِزارٍa waist-wrap عَلىupon فِراشٍa bed حَريرِof silk
I spent the night before dawn; I spent it only
In a waist-wrap upon a bed of silk.
أَوor يَحِلُّsettles دونَin the way of ذاكَthat غَلقُthe locking of قُصورٍpalaces
كَمhow many قَتيلٍone slain مِنَby الهوىlove فيin القُصورِthe palaces
