ماnot زِلتُI have ceased مُنذُsince دَخَلتُI entered القَصرَthe palace فيin كَرَبٍdistress
أَهذيI rave بِذِكرِكِin remembrance of you صَبّاًlovesick لَستُI am not أَنساكِI forget you
Ever since I entered the palace, I have remained in distress,
Since I entered the palace in distress
Raving in remembrance of you, lovesick; I do not forget you.
I have been raving about you morning and night, I cannot forget you
لاdo not تَحسَبينيconsider me وَإِنand even if حَجّابُgatekeepers قَصرِكُمyour palace
سَدّواthey shut الحِجابَthe curtain وَحالواand they barred دونَfrom رُؤياكِseeing you
Do not think, though the gatekeepers of your palace
Do not think that, even though the curtains of your palace
have shut the curtain and kept me from seeing you,
Have been drawn and stand between me seeing you
إِنّيthat I تَعَيَّرتُI was reproached (possibly intended: 'I changed') عَمّاfrom what كُنتُI was ياO سَكَنيmy solace
أَيّامَin the days كُنتُI was إِذاwhen ماemphatic particle شِئتُI wished أَلقاكَI meet you
that I have changed from what I was, O my solace (assuming 'changed' is intended),
I have become embittered by what I was, oh my delight
in the days when I would meet you whenever I wished.
In the days when I could see you whenever I wished
لَكِنَّbut حُبَّكِlove for you أَبلانيhas worn me down وَعَذَّبَنيand has tormented me
وَأَنتِand you فيin راحَةٍease طوباكِblessed are you طوباكِblessed are you
But love for you has worn me down and tormented me,
But my love for you has worn me out and tortured me
while you are at ease—blessed are you, blessed are you!
While you are at ease; blessed are you, blessed are you
