There is no good in one you ask for bounty in an hour of peril.
There is no good in the miser when you ask of him,
So seek showers of bounty from Quraysh’s finest, easily beguiled man.
So seek rain from Quraish, the best of those who hoard.

You imagine him simple-minded when you converse with him,
He seems generous when you converse with him amiably,
Because of his generosity—yet his intellect and piety are sound.
Due to his generosity, intelligence and piety.
