أَلا أَبلِغا عَنّي الأَصَمَّ رِسالَةً

أَلا أَبلِغا عَنّي الأَصَمَّ رِسالَةً

فَإِنَّكَ وَاِبنَ القَرمِ مُختَلِفانِ

فَإِنَّكَ وَاِبنَ القَرمِ مُختَلِفانِ

Hear now, you two: convey a message from me to al-Asamm.

Deliver from me, a message to the deaf one,

For you and the noble chief's son are unlike.

For you and Ibn Al-Qaram are of differing views,

فَدَيتَ الكَسيرَ العَبشَمِيَّ مِنَ الرَدى

فَدَيتَ الكَسيرَ العَبشَمِيَّ مِنَ الرَدى

وَمِن عاهَةِ الأَدواءِ وَالحَدَثانِ

وَمِن عاهَةِ الأَدواءِ وَالحَدَثانِ

You ransomed the stricken Abshami from death,

May I ransom the humble, broken one from harm

and from the affliction of diseases and the calamities of time.

And from the ills of sickness and youth,

شَبيهٌ بِعُثمانَ بنِ عَفّانَ هَديُهُ

شَبيهٌ بِعُثمانَ بنِ عَفّانَ هَديُهُ

وَمَروانَ لا يُزري بِهِ الأَبَوانِ

وَمَروانَ لا يُزري بِهِ الأَبَوانِ

His conduct resembles that of Uthman ibn Affan,

His guidance is like that of Uthman ibn Affan

and Marwan; his parents bring him no disgrace.

And Marwan but the parents do not equal them,

أَلا إِنَّ عَبدَ اللَهِ وَالحَمدَ وَالنَدى

أَلا إِنَّ عَبدَ اللَهِ وَالحَمدَ وَالنَدى

حَليفانِ حَتّى المَوتِ مُصطَفَيانِ

حَليفانِ حَتّى المَوتِ مُصطَفَيانِ

Lo, Abd Allah and praise and generosity

Lo! Abdullah, Hamad, and Nada

are allies until death, a chosen pair.

Are comrades of Mustafa until death parts them.
