Take heed, O guest who seeks hospitality

at Batta, depart—Amr is not in his home.

And whenever a guest called on Abu Awfa,

a fire would be kindled for him, and a pot set cooking for him.

Thus the guest would be sated evening and morning, and the hospitality

was praiseworthy; after it, praise and remembrance endure.
