بى وَنُصحٌ لَكُم وَغَيبٌ سَليمٌ
So to you I journeyed, with kinship interceding for me,
To you I have come pleading, grant favor
and sincere counsel for you, and an untainted inner self.
To me and sound advice to you all, with no ill intent
فَاِكسِنيso clothe me البِشرَcheerfulness إِنَّهُindeed it شاهِدُa witness to العُرkindness (beginning of العُرف)
فَاِكسِني البِشرَ إِنَّهُ شاهِدُ العُر
فِkindness (completion of العُرف) كَماjust as شاهَدbore witness to القَنوطَdespair الوجومُgloomy silence
فِ كَما شاهَد القَنوطَ الوجومُ
So clothe me in cheerfulness, for it bears witness to kindness,
So greet me with glad tidings, he is witness to bareness
as gloomy silence bore witness to despair.
As he witnessed despair’s gloom
