O Amr son of Hind, what do you think of a small herd of camels
A'mar son of Hind does not consider the opinion of Sirmas,
with a bond of protection by which it grazes on water and trees?
She has a path by which she waters the trees,
وَكانَand there were لَهاfor it جارانِtwo protectors قابوسُQabus مِنهُماone of the two
وَكانَ لَها جارانِ قابوسُ مِنهُما

وَعَمروٌ وَلَم أَستَرعِها الشَمسَ وَالقَمَر
And it had two protectors, Qabus one of them,
And she had two neighbours, Qabus was one of them,

رَأَيتُI have seen القَوافيthe rhymes يَتَّلِجنَthey enter مَوالِجاًpassages
رَأَيتُ القَوافي يَتَّلِجنَ مَوالِجاً
تَضَيَّقُare too narrow عَنهاfor them أَنto تَوَلَّجَهاenter them الإِبَرthe needles
تَضَيَّقُ عَنها أَن تَوَلَّجَها الإِبَر
I have seen rhymes enter passages
I saw the rhymes brilliantly intertwined,
too narrow for needles to enter.
Too narrow for the needles to intertwine them.
