You have repaid with abundant affection, twofold and singly,

And one like you has sought guidance and found the way.

You have ever followed the path of Ahmad's tradition,

Building up all of it that had been built.

    كذا يُشْبه الآباءَ من طاب مولِدا

    And you resemble him in conduct, righteousness, and way of life;

Thus one of noble birth resembles his forefathers.

I have always hoped for this in you by intuition,

And known it, until what emerged from you became clear.

Your good fortunes guided your pure affection toward us,

And a person's good fortune has ever been their guide.

So let what your hopes bring you not lie far off,

For all of it that had grown distant is now at hand.

When the ignorant man deems a matter beyond reach, constricted grows

His character before it, and he tires of steadfast endurance.

    تَزيد سجاياه الرّزايا تشدّدا

    And you find the discerning, noble-natured man steadfast;

Adversities make his character grow firmer.

And you are indeed renowned for judgment and wisdom,

And resolve when times grow harsh, and preeminence.

Nor did I direct my counsel toward your affection because I

Fear that time might make it dissipate.

But it is a reminder that makes your love for me grow

In faithfulness and renewal, when love grows weary.

I swore an oath by my noble forefathers,

And by God, after that, an oath made firm:

You shall surely reap what you desire from what you love,

And attain the utmost of your hopes against your foes.

And it is but a night whose darkness has grown sweet,

So do not grieve then, and await its morrow.
