مالي عَجلتُ إلى دُعائكْ
وحُرِمتُand I was denied حَظّيmy share منof لقائكْmeeting you
وحُرِمتُ حَظّي من لقائكْ
Why have I hastened to call upon you,
Why did I hasten to your prayer
And been denied my share of meeting you?
And was deprived of my share of meeting you
وتركتَنيand you left me مُسْتَوْحِشاًdesolate
وتركتَني مُسْتَوْحِشاً
لمّاwhen عزمتُI resolved علىupon اصطفائكchoosing you above others
لمّا عزمتُ على اصطفائك
And you left me desolate
And you left me feeling lonely
When I resolved to choose you above all others,
When I was determined to choose you
حتّىso much so that لقدindeed أوهمتَنيyou led me to believe
حتّى لقد أوهمتَني
أنّيthat I أخونُكbetray you فيin وفائكbeing faithful to you
أنّي أخونُك في وفائك
So much so that you indeed led me to believe
Until you made me believe
That I betray you in being faithful to you.
That I betray you in my loyalty to you
صلّىmay bless عليكupon you اللهGod منas a
صلّى عليك الله من
مَلكٍking وزادكand grant you more فيin حِبائكgifts bestowed on you
مَلكٍ وزادك في حِبائك
May God bless you, O
May God bless you
King, and increase His gifts to you.
