When it came, the wild rose reminded me
The jasmine reminded me when
of the scent of my beloved, who had long kept aloof.
A breeze from my beloved came and lingered,
كأنماas though قبَّلتُI kissed منfrom نَشْرهits fragrance
بيضَwhite الثناياthe front teeth واحمرارَand the redness الخدودْthe cheeks
It was as though, through its fragrance, I had kissed
As if I had kissed from its fragrance
white front teeth and the blush of cheeks.
The whiteness of the cheeks and the blush of the cheeks.
ماhow أجودَgenerous النِسْرِينَthe wild rose لكنَّهbut it
ذكَّرنيreminded me منتزِحاone far away لاnot يجودْhe gives generously
How generous the wild rose is! Yet it
How generous is jasmine! But it
reminded me of one far away who is not generous.
Reminded me, departing, of one who does not give freely.
