منك يا ذا التجرُّمِ
To whom shall I complain of the wrong I suffer
To whom shall I complain of my distress,
from you, O wrongdoer?
Of you, O one of cruel deeds?

نَذَرَاً في الهوى دمي
To your two eyelids? No, they
To your eyelids that did not care
have vowed to shed my blood in love.
That my blood was sacrificed in passion?
أمor لخدّيِكto your two cheeks إذwhen بداappeared

Or to your two cheeks, when there appeared
Or to your cheeks when roses appeared

Veiling my roses?

فانصفي أو تحكّمي
I have no escape from you;
I have no refuge from you,
so be just, or rule as you please.
So do me justice or judge me!
