ومعاطاةُ الكؤوسِ

ومعاطاةُ الكؤوسِ

Sweet was the drinking of aged wine,

The drinking of wine is good,

And the passing of cups,

And the handling of cups,

وغِناء يخلق الل

وغِناء يخلق الل

ذّاتِ في سِرّ النفوس

ذّاتِ في سِرّ النفوس

And singing that creates plea-

And singing that creates sublime spirits

sures in the innermost depths of souls,

In the secrets of souls,

من وجوهٍ زاهراتٍ

من وجوهٍ زاهراتٍ

لم تكدَّرْ بعُبُوسِ

لم تكدَّرْ بعُبُوسِ

From radiant faces

With radiant faces

Not clouded by a frown,

Unmarred by frowns,

في ذَرَا مَلْكٍ عُلاه

في ذَرَا مَلْكٍ عُلاه

فضلتْ نورَ الشُمُوس

فضلتْ نورَ الشُمُوس

In the shelter of a king whose glory

In the atoms of a sublime kingdom

Surpassed the light of the suns.

Brighter than the light of suns.
