كأنّas though الرايَthe rāy fish حينwhen أتَىit arrived طرياًfresh
كأنّ الرايَ حين أتَى طرياً
بأذنابwith tails كَمُحْمَرِّlike the red of العقيقِcarnelian
بأذناب كَمُحْمَرِّ العقيقِ
It was as though the rāy fish, when it arrived fresh,
As though the banner when it came proudly,
with tails like the red of carnelian,
With red tails like carnelian,
بلسقياتvials بلّورcrystal لطافdelicate
بلسقيات بلّور لطاف
بِأَسْفَلِهاat their bottoms بقاياremnants منof رحيقِpure wine
بِأَسْفَلِها بقايا من رحيقِ
were delicate crystal vials,
With crystal ewers of gentle water,
with remnants of pure wine at their bottoms.
At their base remains of sweet nectar.
