If youth could be put up for sale,
If youth could be sold for money’s worth,
I would give the seller whatever he wanted.
To the buyer I would've given all he wanted.

علىover شَرَفٍa height فمطلَبهthen seeking it بعيدُis far off
But when youth turns away
But when youth takes hold and departs,
over a height, it is far beyond reach.
Its demands are hard to grant.

وفازand succeeded بلّذَةٍwith a pleasure فهوَthen he السعيدُthe happy one
So whoever does not put off one moment for another,
So he who does not leave some time for time,
and gains a pleasure—he is the happy one.
Or wins a joy that is lasting, is fortunate indeed.
