إن تكن قد سلوتَ يا نور عيني

إن تكن قد سلوتَ يا نور عيني

وتناءيْتَ فالمَزار بعيدُ

وتناءيْتَ فالمَزار بعيدُ

If you have ceased to love, O light of my eye,

If you have departed, O light of my eyes,

and drawn far away, so the place of visitation is distant,

And are now distant, the dwelling is far,

ففؤادي كما عهِدتَ عَميدٌ

ففؤادي كما عهِدتَ عَميدٌ

وجفوني بدمْعِهِنّ تَجودُ

وجفوني بدمْعِهِنّ تَجودُ

then my heart, as you knew it, is lovesick,

Then my heart is, as you know, steadfast,

and my eyelids give freely of their tears.

And my eyes rain down flowing tears.
