If you are choosing a springtime abode,

then single out al-Qarafa as your choice.

    Dwellings filled with chastity,

    distinguished by piety and splendor.

As though perfume were their soil,

spreading its fragrance in their morning and evening.

And souls throughout their precincts are revived

by the gentle breeze and the sweetness of the air.

Dwellings where bliss is passed around,

and an abode like the sweet echo of song.

    The suns gain splendor there,

and look beautiful in every beholder's eyes.

And there the call to prayer awakens the sleepers,

when the sword of light tears the night apart.

Then some remember their Lord in reverent fear,

and some raise their voices in prolonged supplication.

And there is no good in a person's life

if he does not fear the verdict of Judgment Day.

I have placed my hope in You, O Lord, not because I

have obeyed You as those who refrain from sin obey,

but because I am a believer, certain

that You are Lord of humankind and heaven,

and that You are worthy of good expectations,

and that You are worthy of hopeful trust.

And I have no intercessor, O Lord,

before You but the Seal of the Prophets.

And I am an upright monotheist, declaring myself free before You

    from doubt, idolatry, and transgression.

So, in Your grace, pardon my slip,

and forgive my lapse and my waywardness.
