If Nowruz, when it came, had
If Nouroz could speak when it came,
a mouth and eloquent speech, or a tongue,
With a mouth and articulating words or a tongue,
ناداكit would hail you أنتyou العِيدthe festival ياO عِيدَfestival of مَنthose who

it would hail you: "You are the festival, O festival of those
It would call out to you, “You are the feast, O feast of one
who celebrate, and of Nowruz and Mihrjan!"
Who celebrated Nouroz and the festival.”
لوif جَلَّwere exalted عنbeyond قَدْرِthe reach of الْعِيانِsight امرُؤٌa man
لِلفضلِthrough merit ماnot نالكwould reach you مِنّاfrom us العِيانsight
If a man were exalted beyond the reach of sight
If a man transcended his mortal state,
through merit, our gaze would not reach you.
He still wouldn’t attain your merit through excellence.
أوتيتَyou were granted فيin المَهدِthe cradle العُلاeminence والنَّدَىand generosity

In the cradle you were granted eminence and generosity,
You were granted glory and bounty in the cradle,
and God distinguished you with eloquent speech.
And God graced you with eloquence.
فماso what عسىcould يُحصِيهِenumerate it فيكin you الثناpraise
وأنتَwhile you عاليexalted القَدْرِrank عنabove كلّevery شانstation
What, then, could praise recount of you,
So how can praise enumerate your qualities,
when your stature is exalted above every rank?
When you are of such lofty merit beyond all affairs?

How lovely is that through which now rises—
O, the beauty with which you rise is sublime,
O chosen of the Merciful—the compassion that comes from you!
O, quintessence of the Merciful, your affection is warmth.

People have journeyed with my praise of you,
The worlds have traveled in praising you through my verse,
and songstresses have warbled my verses in your praise.
And my poems have trilled for you.

And since you extolled me, they have made peace with me—
Since I started composing in your honor,
the dark calamities and the trials of time.
The sorrows of calamities and trials of time have bid me well.
لاmay ... not زلتَyou cease تَبقىremain قاهِراًvictorious لِلعِداover the foes

May you ever remain victorious over your foes,
You still remain vanquishing the enemies,
attaining what you hoped for, exalted in station.
Attaining the utmost heights of the abode.
