لو لم تَفحْ لم تُعْرَف الرَّاحُ

لأنها في الكأس إصباحُ

لأنها في الكأس إصباحُ

If it gave off no fragrance, the wine would not be recognized.

If it did not blow, the wind would not be known

For in the cup it is daybreak.

For it is in the cup, dawn

كأنها تَرْجَم عنها السَّنا

كأنها تَرْجَم عنها السَّنا

أو ذاب في الأقداح تُفّاح

أو ذاب في الأقداح تُفّاح

As though radiance had spoken on its behalf,

As if it translates the moment for it

Or apples had melted in the goblets.

Or an apple melted in the cups
