لستُ أدرى مَنِ المُعَلَّى المَهَنَّا

لستُ أدرى مَنِ المُعَلَّى المَهَنَّا

منكما بالشفاء والنَّعْماءِ

منكما بالشفاء والنَّعْماءِ

I do not know who is exalted and congratulated

I know not which of you two I should congratulate,

of you two, on recovery and blessings.

Whether for your recovery and well-being,

أأهنِّيك يا شقيقَ المعالي

أأهنِّيك يا شقيقَ المعالي

أم أُهَنّي بك اتخاذَ الدواء

أم أُهَنّي بك اتخاذَ الدواء

Shall I congratulate you, O brother of lofty honors,

Or for your taking the medicine, my noble brother.

or congratulate the use of medicine on your account?

Good fortune gave you victory and honor,

بشّرتْك السعودُ بالنصر والعزْ

بشّرتْك السعودُ بالنصر والعزْ

زِ وجاءتك بالعُلا والبقاء

زِ وجاءتك بالعُلا والبقاء

The auspicious stars brought you glad tidings of victory and glory,

And brought you supremacy and permanence.

and came to you with eminence and enduring life.

You are truly God's proof, unfolding

إنما أنتَ حُجَةُ الله لاحت

إنما أنتَ حُجَةُ الله لاحت

في البَراَيَا ووارثُ الأنبياء

في البَراَيَا ووارثُ الأنبياء

You are none other than God's proof, shining forth

In the wilds, and heir of the prophets.

among humankind, and the heir of the prophets.

So remain as long as you wish in growing

فابْقَ ما شِئتَ في نُمُوٍّ من المُلْ

فابْقَ ما شِئتَ في نُمُوٍّ من المُلْ

ك على رَغْم آنف الأعداء

ك على رَغْم آنف الأعداء

So live as long as you wish, with ever-growing dominion,

Kingship, despite the enemies' noses.

despite the enemies, their noses humbled.

For you, time has a beautiful covenant,

لك عند الزمانِ عهدٌ جميلٌ

لك عند الزمانِ عهدٌ جميلٌ

ولَدَى المَكْرُمات حسنُ بلاء

ولَدَى المَكْرُمات حسنُ بلاء

You have a gracious covenant with Time,

And with favors, a fine test.

and a fine showing in noble deeds.
